I got stopped out of 7 positions this week, 5 losers and 2 winners. Unfortunately money wise, I came out on the short end. Losers totaled ($708.69) and winners totaled $198.83 for a total loss of $509.86. Now let’s say that as of Friday morning I still held those positions and closed them at the end of the day. Where would I be?
IVN bought 100 @ $25.79 and got stopped out Monday @ $23.34 for a total loss ($265.02), right now IVN is at $23.45 so I would lost ($254.00). I would have saved $11.oo
SOL bought 200 @ 13.3699 and got stopped out Monday @ $13.3501 for a total loss of ($23.96), right now SOL is at $11.88 so I would lost ($371.88). I would have lost an additional ($293.92) This would have really pissed me off.
JASO bought 200 @ $9.49 and got stopped out Tuesday @ $8.18 for a total loss of ($282.01), right now JASO is at $8.48 so I would lost ($222.00). I would have saved $60.01
NG bought 200 @ $9.26 and got stopped out Tuesday @ $8.81 for a total loss of ($110.01), right now NG is at $9.57 so I could sold it for a gain of $42. I would have saved $68.01
PRX bought 100 @ $31.29 and got stopped out Tuesday @ $32.69 for a gain of $119.99. Right now PRX is at $33.36 so I could have sold it for a gain of $187. I would have saved $67.01
UPRO bought 20 @ 162.35 and sold Wednesday @ $167.324 for a gain of $78.84. Right now UPRO is at $169.80 so I could have sold it for a gain of $129.00. I would have saved $50.16
SVM bought 200 @ $8.54 and got stopped out Friday @ 8.5001 for a loss of $27.99. Right now SVM is at $8.70 so I could have sold it for a small gain of $12.00. I would have saved $15.99
Conclusion? I would have had 3 losers and 4 winners if not for the stop loss orders and wild swings in the market this week. Would I have turned a profit? No, I would have still been down $477.88. I guess you could argue that I would still be holding 4 positions and riding them for further gains, but I do not play shoulda woulda. The only transaction that kind of sucked was NG.
