Part 2 TSP Report 8/31/2013–Long moves using monthly charts.

Ok, as promised here is the report for the moves that the charts are saying using monthly charts. The rules. At the close of the last trading day of the month, you have to make a decision to get in or get out of a particular fund. You have to use the 10 period moving average. If price close above the 10 period moving average, you get in or stay in. If price closes below the 10 period moving average, you get out or stay out.

First up, the S&P 500. As bad as August was, price closed well above the 10 period moving average, so the C-fund is a stay in or get in.

Next the Small Cap and here also the closing price is above the 10 period moving average, so stay in or get in. Damn this is hard!

Even the International is a go even though it is very, very close to going either way. Rules are rules.

Bonds are screaming, “Stay out!”

So there you have it. Make your decision once a month base on the last closing day of each month and your done for a month. C, S, I and a go and the F is a stay out. Now how hard was that? For all you long term investors, see you again next month.
