TSP daily charts as of 8/26/17

Next week is the end of August 2017 and unless we get a 1.2% move in 4 days, August will end up in the hole. This will be my first negative month of 2017 and first since October 2016. It has been a good ride and let’s take a look at last week move and maybe if we have a chance at a gain for next week.

Tuesday we ended the day and all sell warnings were off. I didn’t post anything about it because it really didn’t change anything monthly for us. By the close Wednesday, the sell warnings were back on and remained on through the close Friday. It was a nice recovery and it appears that things are stabalizing. Volatility is falling back down to normal levels and with that we hope prices will return to the upside. DMI is still negative but could turn positive with a little upside movement. Since the Small Cap seem to be leading everything lower, if it can show some strength, maybe we can save the month of August.

The Small Cap did make a very strong move up this week. What needs to happen next week is that same upside profile to continue. Price is still below the 50 day ma and the green CBL buy line. DMI is still negative. So, if price can continue up next week here, it will help the other indexes rise.

The International index has no sell warnings. Price seems to be perched ready to launch upwards back through that overhead resistance at $67.21. Volatility is returning to normal levels and DMI is turning positive. Things here seem to be in a great place to run uphill.

I am still regretting not following the monthly signal at the end of July. It is not that it has gained that much, but the fact that it would have help slow my losses in August. So another dumb move on my part. I am currently sitting at 1.13% loss for August and if I had followed the signal, I would sitting at .98%. Not a big difference, but it is a difference.
Bonds continue their slow grind higher and nothing appears here to show that is going to change anytime soon.

Conclusion: Stocks appear to be poised to make a move higher next week. This time of year, nothing surprises me, so we will watch and see what happens.
